About

I came to painting later in life, picking up a brush for the first time after retiring. Guided by my teacher and mentor Stewarttaylor.co.uk (I strongly recommend you check out his website) what began as curiosity quickly became something much deeper – a daily practice, and an exploration that continues to challenge and surprise.

I work from a small studio at the end of my garden in East Yorkshire, a space my husband built for me and one that has become both a sanctuary and a place of exploration. From here, I paint primarily in water-mixable oils, using a limited palette, searching for harmony, subtlety, and depth.

While still life remains at the heart of my work, I am equally drawn to florals, portraiture, and, more recently, landscapes. Each subject offers its own challenge and rhythm, but all are approached with the same intention: to capture something honest, observed, and quietly expressive.

My life outside painting is full and happy – I’m married, with a daughter, her partner, and two wonderfully lively grandchildren who bring energy and perspective in equal measure.

All in all, I’d say my life is pretty perfect- and painting is very much at the centre of it.
